Hollywood stars on Broadway — it’s all the rage.
Scarlett Johansson and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter star Benjamin Walker are busy talking up their new Broadway revival, Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Walker will tackle the role of Brick, and Johansson will portray his sex-starved wife Maggie in a family drama about deceit and tolerance set in the South. The show, which has had many revivals since originally debuting in 1955, was last on Broadway in 2008 with Terrence Howard and James Earl Jones. “It’s one of the greatest American plays ever written. It has endured because it’s about issues we continue to deal with,” Walker says.
Johansson, who is reportedly earning at least $40,000 per week for the limited-run production, last appeared on Broadway in 2010 with a Tony-winning turn in The View From the Bridge. Walker was last seen on the Great White Way in 2010 starring in cult favorite musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. In the clip, the two discuss their return to the stage. “I’ve been that person in the audience for the past two years that goes, ‘I miss it so much!'” Johansson said.
